Long Term Care- General Population
(Shon) '...spent the time getting to know the participants so she was able to provide each individual the resources and approach so the program was meaningful to them. Shon spent many hours outside of her regular programming hours dedicated to understanding people and their remaining abilities.'
Camille Lesiuk, CTRS, Cypress Health Region
'The endless hours Shon spent researching and strategizing personalized needs is astounding. She delivered respectful programming at individual ability levels which left residents feeling successful and proud of their accomplishments.'
Tammy Willman, Program Coordinator GCHCC, Shaunavon SK
Person-Centred Art/Music Approaches
Living with Dementia (early to advanced)
Living with Brain Changes
(Shon's) '...work in particular with residents living with dementia was phenomenal. She was able to reach those residents who struggle to communicate or feel they have no purpose. Residents were able to express themselves through art.' Camille Lesiuk, CTRS, Cypress Health Region
'My mother has dementia and so I’ve struggled with having false expectations of my mother’s condition rather than being present to see the person who she is now. This is something I’ve wrestled with for years but working on the documentary with Shon gave me a new perspective.'
George Tsouriganis, Overtime Studios
'Shon was able to unlock forgotten memories through her work and this would often open the door to candid conversations with many that suffered from memory loss. '
Dennette Warberg, Health Services Manager Eastend Wolf Willow Health Centre
Workshops
Emotionally Navigating a Dementia Diagnosis
(TBA)
Being presented with a dementia diagnosis can bring on an array of emotions: fear, anxiety, dread and more.
These workshops provide a safe, non-judgemental space to examine these emotions, find community through shared experiences, and discover art/music approaches to aid in navigating a new way of 'being'.
Therapeutic Art/Music Strategies
Neurodiverse Children
Therapeutic Arts/Music-Based, Sensory-Focused Approaches
To support children in exploring/understanding their world
and develop strategies to aid in regulating emotions.
Adult Workshops
Restoration and Integration of The Self
Workshops do not focus on any final art product but rather the exploration of process and how these art/music inspired ‘windows’ may be used to:
*commune with ‘something’ that has never been vocalized
*glean a new understanding through intuitive ‘eyes’
*welcome and embrace our ‘parts’ (using Internal Family Systems- IFS)
*begin a relationship with deep seated emotions/trauma
*shift paradigms
* gain tools to practice autonomy
*celebrate The Self
