During the Covid lockdown, the 'Van Gogh Immersive' was traveling Canada. We decided to create our own 'Van Gogh Immersive' experience. We learned about Van Gogh, viewed his artwork and created this collaborative wall hanging inspired by VG's 'The Starry Night'.
There were 9 participants; only 2 without dementia symptoms.
7'x4'. Acrylic paint on black denim. Free-motion stitched (by Shon).
We often created collaborative larger works, grouping a subject matter together. The collaborative art pieces made much more of a visual impact in a large space and supported inclusivity and community for those with varying ability levels.
Frame is 4'x4'. Acrylic paint, brush and palette knife.
Another example of collaboration. The frames are 4'x4'.
Sculpted plaster on canvas. Black acrylic paint, dry brushed with metallics.
Sketches by Lita White Bear.
Lita was a Two-Spirit Cree person; scooped in 1974. She used her art to connect to her culture. She let her artwork be guided by 'other', never knowing what would come forth when she picked up her pencil.

or do anything grandiose.
Instead,
create a clearing
in the dense forest of your life
and wait there patiently,
until the song that is your life
falls into your own cupped hands
and you recognize and greet it.
Only then will you know
how to give yourself
to this world
so worthy of rescue
